Deutsch-Griffen#
Deutsch-Griffen, Carinthia, municipality in the district of St. Veit an der Glan, alt. 847 m, pop. 1,105, area 71.44 km2, summer holiday resort in a side valley (Griffenbach stream) of the Gurk Valley at the bottom of the Gurktal Alps. The parish church (first documented in 1157) with Romanesque nave, Gothic choir, frescoes from the mid-15th century, and the Early Gothic charnel house are surrounded by a 3.80 m-high late Gothic fortified wall.
