Domes, Franz#
b. Vienna, June 25, 1863, d. Vienna, July 11, 1930, Social Democratic politician and unionist, machinist by profession. 1906-1920 member of the Vienna City Council, from 1911 member of the Austrian Reichsrat. Co-founder of the metalworkers' association, its secretary in 1898, its chairman in 1918; 1920 president of Austrian Conference of Chambers of Labour. A council house built in Vienna's 5th district in 1928 and an apprentices' home in the 4th district (1952) are named after him.
