b. Vienna, Nov. 1, 1942 historian; grandson of Alfons Dopsch. Professor of comparative history of the federal provinces at the University of Salzburg. Editor of "Geschichte Salzburgs - Stadt und Land" (1981-1991); author of numerous books on the history of Salzburg as well as of the volume "Die Laender und das Reich. 1122-1278" (1999) of the 12-volume history of Austria edited by H. Wolfram (1994ff.).
