Dorfgastein#

Dorfgastein, province of Salzburg, municipality in the district of St. Johann, alt. 830 m, pop. 1,481, area 5,407 km2, summer and winter tourism (218,731 overnight stays), situated in the lower Gastein Valley south of the Gasteiner Klamm gorge. - Festival hall, solar-heated open air swimming pools, show cave ("Entrische Kirche", now Protestant memorial), monocable railway to the Fulseck mountain (2,035 m); hotel and restaurant industry, Klammstein Fortress ruins, since 1973 partly revitalised. Early-Gothic parish church (first documented mention 1350), old farm buildings (18th -19th  century).
