Ebelsberg#
Ebelsberg, southern district of the city of Linz, on the right bank of the river Traun, Hiller barracks; old market place with Traun bridge (mentioned in 1215), in 1809 defended against the French (memorial column in the market square). In 1626 S. Fadinger died in E. Castle (16th century, first documented mention 1154; until 1803 owned by the bishops of Passau) which is set on the steep Schiltenberg mountain overlooking the river Traun, gardens and gateway tower containing Roman stone remnants; prehistoric finds.
