Elsbeere#

Wild Service Tree (Sorbus torminalis), lime-loving tree of the rosaceae family, occurs in the northern foothills of the Alps in Lower Austria as shrub or tree. Its elongated berries are red in colour at first, changing to leathery brown later. Fully ripe, they are edible and mealy; basis for a particularly high-quality schnaps.
