Emmausgemeinschaft#
Emmaus Community, an international organisation founded in 1949, provides accommodation and work for people released from prison and tries to ease their re-integration into society. In 1982 the diocese of St. Poelten (Caritas, Katholische Aktion) set up an E. community, which runs a joinery, a second-hand shop and a renovation project where an average of 35 people find work. Every year about 180 people seeking help are cared for in the community´s 2 homes. Since 1980, a central office for ex-prisoners has been operating in the city of Salzburg.
