b. around 1450, d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), between Feb. 28 and Oct. 16, 1508, from 1479 gunsmith in the service of Archduke Sigmund and Emperor Maximilian I; foundry located in Hoetting. One of the first arms casters in Central Europe, one of his rifles has survived ("Die alt Kattl", made in 1494, now in the Musee de l´Armee in Paris).
