Film Promotion: The most important agency for promoting films in Austria is the Oesterreichisches Filminstitut (Austrian Film Institute) established in 1981, until 1993 called the Oesterreichische Filmfoerderungs-Fonds (Austrian Film Promotion Fund, OeFF). Every Austrian cinema or television film that is professionally made and self-produced is eligible for federal film subsidies. According to the amendment to the Film Promotion Act of 1998 the objectives of Film Promotion include: supporting the production, distribution and commercial use of Austrian films, increasing the economic viability and quality of Austrian film production, promoting cooperation between cinema and television, providing specialised organisational know-how and participating in harmonising in the film promotion measures carried out at federal and provincial level.
