Fraktion#
Fraktion (Parliamentary Party), association of like-minded members of parliament (in the Nationalrat, Landtag in the provinces or municipal councils) usually belonging to one political party. Party discipline means that the members of a parliamentary party must vote on a measure as previously agreed upon; although it contradicts the concept of the free mandate, this is common practice in Austria. In the Nationalrat, the Fraktion (Parliamentary Party) is called "Klub" and is headed by the "Klubobmann", or the Chairman.
