Frastanz, Vorarlberg, municipality in the district of Feldkirch, alt. 509 m, pop. 5,881, area 32.29 km2, situated east of Feldkirch at the mouth of the Samina Valley in the Walgau. - Electric plant, Stiftung Maria Ebene Hospital, recreational facilities, residential home, spiritual centre, vocational school for home economics. Strong economic growth, in particular in the production sector and in trade; economic restructuring and the establishment of new businesses followed the decline of the textile industry: paper industry, production of animal feed, adhesive tape, curtains, bedding made of natural materials and cables; marble processing plant, vegetable wholesale trade, tourism. - Site of a battle (1499) in the Swabian War; neo-Gothic parish church (1885-1888); Mariahilf Chapel (1826); industrial monuments: spinning mill (around 1835), machinery factory (1836).
