Friedländer, Johann Georg Franz#
b. Berne (Switzerland), Nov. 5, 1882, d. near Oświecim, Poland (Auschwitz), Jan. 20, 1945, from 1901 Austrian officer, fought on the Austrian side in World War I, 1920 Austrian nationality, colonel, Field Marshal Lieutenant, until 1931 Director-General in the Austrian civil service. In 1944 deported to the Oswiecim/Auschwitz concentration camp, where he was shot dead by the National Socialists when the camp was cleared.
