Galgenberg bei Stratzing#
Galgenberg bei Stratzing, Lower Austria, frequently used resting place between Krems-Rehberg and Stratzing around 30,000 B.C., excavations started in 1985. Charcoal and tools of stone were found at various fire places. Special constructions probably served as shelters. The most important find is the Venus vom Galgenberg statuette, the world´s oldest sculpture of a woman; material fragments which were found at G. suggest that the figure was carved at the place where it was found.
