Gols#
Gols, Burgenland, market town in the district of Neusiedl, alt. 130 m, pop. 3,420, area 42.11 km2, northeast of Lake Neusiedl (Seewinkel area). - Private wine testing laboratory; wine-growing (about 600 wine growers, small-scale as well as large-scale estates), wine trade, small-scale tourism, small commercial businesses. - First documented mention in 1217, Protestant parish church (75% of the population are Protestants) built in 1818, renovated in 1888; Catholic church (12th /13th centuries), fortified church (1683).
