Gorlice#
Gorlice, village in Galicia at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, where the Tarnów counteroffensive began, as planned by the Austrian General F. Conrad von Hoetzendorf, on May 2, 1915, breaking through the Russian front over a distance of 300 km. A significant part of Galicia was reconquered (Przemyśl und Lemberg) and the Austrians occupied the Polish territory between Galicia and East Prussia (until September 1915).
