Gozzoburg#
Gozzoburg Castle, medieval castle in the town of Krems an der Donau. Castle developed out of a simple but solid house with courtyard from the 12th century. In 1267 Gozzo, a burgher of Krems and municipal judge from 1249 until 1282 ("Kammergraf" during the reign of Otakar II and Rudolf I) founded a chapel consecrated to St. John (Johanneskapelle). Otakar converted and extended the castle in a style reminiscent of a "palazzo comunali": large hall with loggia (restored in 1957), arcades (pointed arches), rooms with frescoes (1470/80) on the first floor.
