Grinzing#
Grinzing, former municipality in a wine-growing area, since 1891 part of the 19th district of Vienna, large village since 1114, derived from the name "Grinco"; repeatedly destroyed by the Turkish and French armies, in the 19th century became a wine-growing village, popular destination for day-trips and summer holidays, today famous Heuriger village. Grinzing has preserved its small-town character (classified as a historic monument) and is surrounded by vineyards; it is situated in a valley in the foothills of the Vienna Woods.
