Großmährisches Reich#

Great Moravian Empire, west-Slavic empire, established around 830 A.D., with centre near the confluence of the River Thaya and the River March/Morava; also included large areas of the Weinviertel and Waldviertel regions. It engaged in hostilities with the Frankish Empire and had its heyday under the rule of duke Swatopluk (d. 894). Christianised by Cyril and Methodius, destroyed by the Hungarians in 905.
