Hämmerle, Franz Martin#

b. Dornbirn (Vorarlberg), Jan. 23, 1815, d. Dornbirn, Feb. 15, 1878, industrialist; grandfather of Theodor Haemmerle. Began in 1836 as a small-scale textile dealer, established in Dornbirn a cotton weaving-mill with a dye-works and a spinning-mill with the most advanced mechanization technology of the time. The company exists to this day as F. M. Haemmerle Textilwerke AG.
