Haberlandt, Friedrich, b. Bratislava, Slovakia (then Pressburg), Feb. 21, 1826, d. Vienna, May 1, 1878, agricultural scientist, father of Michael Haberlandt and Gottlieb Haberlandt. 1872-1878 professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Vienna, where he continued the school of J. von Liebig and greatly contributed to the creation of scientific foundations for crop farming; attempted to introduce the soya bean ("H.-Bohne").
