Hager, Leopold, b. Salzburg, Oct. 6, 1935, conductor. 1955-1957 studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg; 1957-1962 repetiteur and choirmaster; later chief kapellmeister in Mainz; 1962-1964 kapellmeister in Linz and 1964-1965 in Cologne; 1965-1969 chief music director in Freiburg im Breisgau, 1969-1981 director of the Mozarteum Orchestra. From 1981 artistic director of the RTL Symphony Orchestra (Luxembourg), guest conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, etc. Particularly esteemed for his premières of contemporary music (H. Eder, Jean Francaix, Giselher Klebe).
