Hammerstein-Equord, Hans#
b. Sitzenthal Castle (municipality of Loosdorf, Lower Austria), Oct. 5, 1881, d. Pernlehen bei Micheldorf in Oberoesterreich (Upper Austria), Aug. 9, 1947, civil servant, poet. Founder and president of the Innviertel Artists' Guild. Civil servant, in 1934 Chief of Security for Upper Austria, in 1934-1935 Staatssekretaer for Security Issues, Minister of Justice in 1936; 1935-1938 president of the Austrian P. E. N. Club, imprisonment in 1944/45. Wrote romantic poetry dealing largely with nature, historical novels, novellas and non-fiction.
