Hanthaler, Chrysostomus eigentlich Johannes Adam#
b. Mehrnbach (Upper Austria), Jan. 14, 1690, d. Lilienfeld (Lower Austria), Sept. 2, 1754, numismatist and historiographer, from 1716 in Lilienfeld monastery. He invented the names of chronicle-writers who had dealt with the history of the Babenberg period (Aloldus of Poechlarn with his chronicle, 1034-1056; Ricardus of Klosterneuburg and Ortilo, Monk of Lilienfeld, with excerpts 1065-1198 and chronicle 1198-1230; Pernoldus 1230-1267; Leopoldus of Klosterneuburg, Cistercian in Lilienfeld, around 1330), which caused much confusion for a long time. Printed in Notulae Anecdotae (1742). H. also researched many facts about the Lilienfeld monastery.
