Studied law , entered upon a diplomatic career, joining the Foreign Service in 1963, official at Austrian embassies in Brazil, France, Thailand, Japan, and in the Foreign Ministry; 1983-89 Ambassador to Pakistan, 1991-95 Ambassador to Kenya, since 1996 Director-General of the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative (CEI) in Trieste. CEI, which comprises 16 Central, Eastern and Southeastern European countries, aims at promoting cooperation among its members and their participation in European integration.
