Hauser, Johann, geb. 1926#
b. Bratislava (Slovakia), Nov. 30, 1926, d. Klosterneuburg (Lower Austria), Jan. 7, 1996, painter. 1946 placed under guardianship because of mental deficiency, main representative of the group "Artists in Gugging" (Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurology Klosterneuburg, Lower Austria). He draws and paints under the direction of doctors as part of his therapy. Primarily because of his coloured pen drawings, he became internationally known as one of the most important exponents of art brut.
