Hausner, Rudolf#

b. Vienna, Dec. 4, 1914, d. Moedling (Lower Austria), Feb. 25, 1995, painter and graphic artist. Studied 1931-1936 at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under C. Fahringer and K. Sterrer. In his first artistic phase was influenced by Impressionism and Expressionism. From 1938 exhibition of his work prohibited, 1941-1943 military service, 1943 first experiences with subconscious projections ("Tatrablick"), which were followed by the transformation of psychological experiences into works of art. In 1946 founded, together with E. Jene, E. Fuchs, W. Hutter and F. Janschka a surrealist group in the Austrian Art-Club, A. Lehmden and A. Brauer joined later, in 1959 it developed into the Vienna School of Phantastic Realism. 1948-1956 H. developed the subjects "Adam", "Anima" and "Narrenhut" as constantly recurring topoi in his paintings. From 1966 university professor in Hamburg, from 1968 teacher at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. Austrian State Prize for Painting 1970.
