Haynau, Julius Freiherr von#

b. Kassel (Germany), Oct. 14, 1786, d. Vienna, March 14, 1853, general. From 1801 in the Austrian army; in 1849 harshly quelled the Italian uprising near Brescia and in 1849/1850 the Hungarian revolution; in 1850 forced to leave the army.
