Hellbrunn#
Hellbrunn Palace, summer palace near the city of Salzburg, 1613-1619 built by S. Solari for Archbishop Marcus Sitticus, later owned by the imperial family. The oldest Baroque structure of its kind that can be still be seen in its original form and the only one north of the Alps; comprises a park with fountains, trick fountains, numerous grottos decorated with sculptures, Felsentheater (first open-air theatre north of the Alps; 1618 first performance of Italian opera in Central Europe), water-powered mechanical theatre (1748-1752) and the "Monatsschloessl" House (built 1615).
