Henckel von Donnersmarck, Adelsfamilie#
Henckel von Donnersmarck, noble family originally from Spis, Slovakia (then Zips); were made barons in 1636, counts in 1651/61; enfeoffed with Beuthen and Oderberg by Emperor Ferdinand II in 1623. Members of the family who were important in the context of Austrian history include Lazarus Henckel, who in 1607 was given the title Henckel von Donnersmarck and Count Hugo Henckel von Donnersmarck, who made significant contribution to industry and agriculture and forestry in the 19th century. The Vienna palace (Weihburggasse/Parkring, now a hotel) was built in 1871/72; the family has owned Wolfsberg castle (Carinthia) since 1846; it was renovated in romantic style in 1850 and restored in the 20th century.
