Herrmann, Emanuel#
b. Klagenfurt (Carinthia), June 24, 1839, d. Vienna, July 13, 1902, inventor of the post card, political economist, teacher at the Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt, 1882-1902 at the University of Technology in Vienna. In a newspaper article, ("Neue Freie Presse" Jan. 26, 1869) proposed "a new kind of correspondence by post", an open card, the size of a letter with a 2-kreuzer stamp printed on it (stamp for a letter cost 5 kreuzer).
