Hintersee, , municipality in the district of Salzburg Land in the province of Salzburg, alt. 746 m, pop. 400, area 47.42 km2 , tourist destination (recreation, winter sports) situated on Taugl stream southeast of the city of Salzburg, near Lake Hintersee. - Forestry operation run by the Oesterreichische Bundesforste AG; timber production. - Late Baroque parish church (1785), rectory (1785); former hunting lodge at Langreith (16th century), mill on Griessbach stream, numerous farmsteads from the 19th century.
