Vienna, Feb. 1553, copper engraver, etcher, glass painter, gem cutter, geometrician and cartographer; one of the most versatile artists in the 16th century, son of the glass painter Veit H. the Elder from Nuremberg; probably worked in his father's workshop until 1525. From 1544 worked in Vienna as an etcher. His main works include precise topographical profile views of Vienna and a map of the city of Vienna (1547, now in the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna), which he created by employing triangulation, a process he himself developed.
