Exceptionally Gifted Children, Education of, introduced in the 1960s on a trial basis at a small number of schools, curriculum focused mainly on sports and music, from 1975 included in the standard school system in the form of special schools (e.g. boarding school for skiers in Stams, Oberstufen-Realgymnasium for students of music in Vienna). Apart from these schools ("with special emphasis on music or sports") no special schools for gifted children exist, but since the end of the 1980s they have been given the opportunity to take additional optional subjects at school.
