Hofer, Josef#

b. Dorf an der Pram (Upper Austria), Nov. 9, 1898, d. Grieskirchen (Upper Austria), Jan. 6, 1958, police and administration official, resistance fighter. 1938 was a high official at the police authority in Linz, was later sent to a concentration camp; after his release he played an important role in the resistance movement against the Nazis in Upper Austria; established links with resistance movement groups of all political directions. After the war became chief official of Grieskirchen administrative district.
