Hohenau an der March#
Hohenau an der March, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Gaenserndorf, 155 m, pop. 2,815 (1981: pop. 3,205 ), area 23.38 km2, situated in the northeastern Weinviertel region, on the border to Slovakia. Customs office, customs authority department; sugar factory. Burial site of the Hallstatt culture with cremation sites and funerary objects (e.g. pottery); early-Baroque parish church (1693) with Romanesque elements (choir, windows), high altar from 1737; charnel house (1728) with chapel; parsonage (1785/86); plague column (1679); Schwedenkreuz cross (1600); south of Hohenau an der March lie the Fuerstenwald wetlands along the River March/Morava.
