Hollenburg, Weiler#
Hollenburg, Carinthia, small rural settlement in the district of Klagenfurt, alt. 547 m, situated above the Ferlach reservoir of the River Drau/Drava, cadastral district of the municipality of Koettmannsdorf; bridge over the River Drau south of Hollenburg. Forestry, horse breeding. Hollenburg Castle is one of the most important castles in Carinthia; Gothic fortress from the 14th /16th centuries (first documented mention 1142), extensions from around 1588, pentagonal arcaded courtyard with Renaissance arcaded walks, Roman stones and coat of arms (Dietrichstein-Starhemberg dynasties); large cellars, hall on the ground floor, 80 m-long bridge; frescoes from the 14th century in the chapel.
