Hollenburg#
Hollenburg, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Krems an der Donau (Stadt), alt. 207 m, on the south bank of the River Danube, in the Hollenburger Wald forest; cadastral district of the municipality of Krems an der Donau. Wine and fruit-growing region. Until 1803 owned by the Freising family; late-Gothic fortified church (staggered pier hall church, finished 1513), in the north chapel, altar from the 2nd half of the 17th century with madonna (around 1420), neo-Gothic interior; Wetterkreuzkirche subsidiary church (1652/1727), rebuilt 1920 in Baroque style; Geymueller castle (1812-14); Bertholdstein ruins (fortress built around 1250).
