Holzbauer, Ignaz#
b. Vienna, Sept. 17, 1711, d. Mannheim (Germany), April 7, 1783, composer. Around 1740 he and his wife worked at the Kaerntnertortheater in Vienna, from 1751 musical director in Stuttgart and Mannheim. One of the most significant composers of the Mannheim School; in his works he laid foundation for the development of Viennese Classicism.
