Hornbostel, Christian Georg#
b. Vienna, May 15, 1778, d. Vienna, June 6, 1841, industrialist; father of Theodor von Hornbostel. Took over his father's silk factory in Vienna and invented a new mechanical loom in 1811. In 1823 he moved the weaving mill, Vienna's most important factory of its kind, to Leobersdorf (Lower Austria) and started the production of "Crêpe de Chine". Co-founder of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (Austrian National Bank, 1816).
