INTERSPAR GesmbH#

INTERSPAR GesmbH., wholly-owned subsidiary of SPAR Oesterreichissche Warenhandels-AG, one of the biggest trading companies in Austria. Operates large whole-sale markets with a sales area of between 3,000 and 8,000 m2 and an assortment of about 45,000 articles on a self-service basis in 44 locations all over Austria. In 1971 the first Interspar market was opened in Innsbruck. Interspar markets are mainly located in shopping centres, which are mostly run by the Interspar company itself. In 1997 the turnover in sales amounted to 10.9 billion Austrian schillings. About 4,600 employees.
