Ibmer Moos#
Ibmer Moos, Upper Austria, large moorland area in the south-western part of the upper Innviertel region, bordering on the province of Salzburg; comprises the nature preserve of the "Ewigkeit" ("Eternity") moors, the Filzmoos and Hehermoos regions with Lake Holzoesterersee in the west and Lake Hoellerer in the south. The Ibmer Moos was formed by glaciers during the Ice Age; much of its original beauty, however, has been devastated as a result of drainage, peat cutting, mud exploitation and building activities. On the fringes of the Ibmer Moos, between Lake Heratinger-See and Lake Seeleitensee, stands the ruin of Ibm Castle (municipality of Eggelsberg).
