Illit#

Illite, clay material subject to strong expansion when heated; used for producing building materials. Two Austrian producers of building materials, at Uelmitz near Kapfenberg and Fehring, Styria (where the light-weight building material "Leca" is produced), were subject to supervision by the Austrian Mines Inspectorate in 1993. Illite output in 1993 was 300,112 t.
