Innsbrucker Nordkette#
Innsbrucker Nordkette Mountains (also Solsteinkette mountain chain), Tirol, part of the Karwendel Mountains, in the north of Innsbruck. Impressive rock ridge with mountains (from west to east): Grosser Solstein (2,541 m), Kleiner Solstein (2,637 m), Hintere Brandjochspitze (2,599 m), Frau Hitt (2,270 m), Kemacher (2,480 m), Hafelekarspitze (2,334 m), Rumer Spitze (2,454 m). Due to land clearing, excessive farming and fires, the Innsbrucker Nordkette Mountains are exposed to avalanches. In 1935 systematic afforestation measures started. Mountain refuge: Solsteinhaus (1,806 m).
