Itter#
Itter, Tirol, municipality in the district of Kitzbuehel, alt. 703 m, pop. 980, area 10.45 km2, bi-seasonal tourist resort (103,605 overnight stays) on a terrace above Brixental valley between Woergl and Hopfgarten. - Gondola ropeway up Kraftalm mountain (1,337 m); glass production, trade in natural products. - Baroque parish church (1762-1764) by A. Huber; Itter Castle (first documented mention 1240, from 1380 in the possession of the archbishops of Salzburg), 1877-1884 and 1902 partly reconstructed in historicist style.
