b. Petrovaradin, Yugoslavia (then Peterwardein), Oct. 16, 1801, d. Zagreb, Croatia (then Agram), May 19, 1859, Austrian military leader. In his function of field marshal lieutenant and Ban of Croatia and Slovenia commander of Croatian units loyal to the emperor in 1848, his units cooperated with the troops of Prince A. of Windisch-Graetz to suppress the Oktoberrevolution in Vienna, and in the following year defeated the troops of the Hungarian revolutionary army.
