Judendorf, Niederlassungen jüdischer Händler#
Judendorf, settlement of Jewish traders: In the 11th century, Jewish traders established settlements very close to towns (Villach, Graz) or in places where towns later developed (Judenburg, Voelkermarkt), particularly in the provinces of Styria, Carinthia, and Salzburg. These settlements were presumably a consequence of the expulsion of Jews from the Rhineland and Bavaria (Regensburg) in 1096.
