Köchel, Ludwig Ritter von#

Koechel, Ludwig, Ritter* von, b. Stein an der Donau (Lower Austria), Jan. 14, 1800, d. Vienna, June 3, 1877, music author, studied law, naturalist, edited a chronological thematic catalogue of W. A. Mozart´s work (Koechel Verzeichnis/Koechel Index, 1862). Published in 1947 with supplements by A. Einstein. The "small K." was published by H. Hase in 1951. K. also compiled works of fundamental significance on the Court Orchestra (Hofmusikkapelle), 1869 and J. J. Fux (1872) and published L. van Beethoven's letters to Archduke Rudolf (1865).
