Köhler#
Charcoal-burner: woodland peasants, members of a mining association or workers in their service making charcoal by burning wood of inferior value under an air-tight cover. Today charcoal is still used for grills or for forging stainless steel. In Lower Austria some farmers still operate a charcoal pile several times a year. A model of a pile is displayed in the woodland peasant museum in Gutenstein (Lower Austria).
