Kürenberg, der von#
Kuerenberg, der von, probably a pseudonym, together with Dietmar von Aist most important and earliest representative of the so-called "Danube-region" Minnesong; believed to have hailed from the Danube region in Bavaria or Austria (Passau, Wilhering, Melk); 15 stanzas written by him, which are metrically similar to the Nibelungen stanza and were written around 1150/1160, have been handed down in the Manessische Liederhandschrift manuscript. What is most striking is the simplicity of this specimen of early courtly poetry, especially in the falcon song (Falkenlied).
Edition: Minnesangs Fruehling, 381988.
