Kürnberger, Ferdinand#

b. Vienna, July 3, 1821, d. Munich (Germany), Oct. 14, 1879, feuilletonist, critic, narrative writer. Participated in the Revolution of 1848 and had to flee from Vienna, worked as a correspondent and critic in Germany. Is considered one of the most important exponents of Viennese feuilleton writing of the 1860s and 1870s. His highly artistic texts critically examine political, cultural and social problems and had great influence on e.g. H. Bahr und K. Kraus. K.'s novel "Der Amerika-Muede" (1855), with its negative image of the USA, earned him great success as a narrative writer.
